Diameter Gateway
The Traffix Diameter Gateway enables operators to bridge between their existing legacy network and their new Next Generation Network (NGN) or IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network.
Diameter Gateway – Diameter to Legacy Scenario
The Traffix Diameter Gateway bridges and unifies Diameter control plane and signaling connectivity based on the Diameter protocol with legacy connectivity based on legacy protocols such as the RADIUS, LDAP, and other legacy protocols.
Diameter Gateway – Diameter to Diameter Scenario
As Diameter becomes the standard control plane protocol we see more Diameter Gateway requirements emerge in other situations where connectivity is required between different flavors of the Diameter
Diameter Gateway Benefits
The Traffix Diameter Gateway enables operators to connect services across the legacy and NGN domains, to align NGN and legacy infrastructure and functionality and to enable unified subscriber management and billing.
The Traffix Diameter Gateway supports all the main IMS Diameter interfaces such as Ro, Rf, Sh, Cx, DCCA and Gx Diameter interfaces.
Traffix Diameter Gateway offers a two-way translation and mapping service as Diameter-to-RADIUS Gateway or as LDAP-to-Diameter Gateway. The Traffix Diameter Gateway also offers support and translation to other protocols, such as CAMEL, CORBA, GTP’, SOAP, HTTP and XML
Major BenefitsThe major benefits of the Traffix Diameter Gateway to service providers include the following:
- The Traffix Diameter Gateway positively impacts investments by lowering costs and decreasing time-to-service-launch for the service provider.
- The Traffix Diameter Gateway enables service providers to cap their investments in legacy technology, providing a method to use both Legacy services and new services simultaneously.
- The Traffix Diameter Gateway allows service providers to launch NGN services without investing in a full NGN solution.
- The Traffix Diameter Gateway can also perform Diameter to Diameter translation across standards and technologies to enable service providers to connect various technologies together (wireline, mobile, WiMax, WiFi, etc) for true Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC).
- The Traffix Diameter Gateway enables service providers to increase interoperability in order to avoid a vendor “lock-in”.
