Diameter protocol is the key element in delivering all that 4G promises:

One of the goals of an all IP network is to create a horizontal control layer based on the Diameter protocol that isolates the access network from the service layer. From a logical architecture perspective, services need not have their own control functions, as the control layer is a common to all services. The main core network control protocol in LTE/IMS/HSPA+ is Diameter.

OpenBlox Diameter Stack - Provides Diameter protocol support for the entire set of Diameter IMS interfaces such as the Rf, Ro, Gy, Gz, Sh, Cx and Gx Diameter interfaces, based on 3GPP Release 6,7,8 and 9 specifications.

Traffix Signaling Delivery Controller (SDC) is a single platform that consolidates Traffix robust, carrier-grade Diameter Load Balancer, Diameter Router and Diameter Gateway for maximum cost-effective scalability, instant connectivity and comprehensive control of IP-based signaling. All three are the market's most mature solutions, with over 100 field-proven deployments worldwide, and now are available as an integrated product to give an end-to-end solution, solving operators' greatest challenges of network connectivity, scalability and control.

Consolidating the three Diameter solutions to one platform brings operators an end-to-end integrated product with multiple benefits as a result of operational and cost synergies among the solutions. With the SDC, operators can benefit from up to 70% of a reduction in OPEX and CAPEX. Having one configuration point also delivers management and cost benefits. Each solution may be deployed standalone, however when combined, the benefits are multiplied.
